I've been revisiting my love for drawing after a few years of doing nothing but painting and simple sketches for paintings.  I decided to jump back in with portraits so I found a class in the area and signed up!  This is what I'm currently trying to finish up.  Our teacher is, Maureen Killaby, a wonderful self-taught artist in the East Texas area.  You can see her work here or on her blog.

I'm also trying to do at least one simple or fun sketch a day.  Here are some examples from my journal:

Sarah R. McInroe "A Difficult Truth"

Sarah R. McInroe "Hedgehog on a Rainbow"

Sarah R, McInroe "Childhood Cotton"

"Childhood Cotton" is a actually much bigger than the others and going to be a finished pen and watercolor.  Very different for me but I'm enjoying using a different medium and I love how crisp it comes out.  Trying to find what you really love to draw/paint is tough (or at least it has been for me).  I'm all over the place!  These aren't the greatest pictures either, I'll try to take some better ones soon.

  1. Oh my God your portraits are amazing! I can't wait to see your Etsy shop. I always want to get a portrait of my grandmother drawn. Sheesh, your good.

  2. These are so awesome! Ahgg I'm so excited you're putting more stuff out there! Yay :)
